Living // Red Velvet Espresso Brownies with Cream Cheese Topping recipe

Today is the first day of February, which means Valentine's Day is just around the corner (two weeks to be exact) and what could be sweeter than a red colored treat for that someone special. 

By adding a few extra ingredients to boxed brownies and whipping together some cream cheese topping you'll be on your way to creating sweet treats in no time. Mix together, bake and then share with someone special!

Ingredients for Cream Cheese Topping:
1 package of cream cheese, 8 oz., softened
1 egg
0.5 cups sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon vanilla

Ingredients for Brownies:
1 box Betty Crocker Original Supreme brownie mix (also needs water, vegetable oil and eggs)
2 tablespoons instant espresso coffee
1 bottle red food coloring, 1 oz.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 13 x 9 inch pan with cooking spray.

In a small bowl, beat cream cheese topping ingredients together with an electric mixer on low speed until smooth. Set aside.

Make brownie batter as directed on box then add espresso coffee and red food coloring mixing well until batter changes color. Spread in pan.

Smooth cream cheese topping on top of batter and use a knife to marble the mixtures.

Bake as directed on brownie mix bow, usually between 30 and 40 minutes, until thoroughly cooked.
