Fresh Finds: Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Water

What it is: Caudalie Make-Up Removing Cleansing Water

What they say: This gentle cleanser soothes, moisturizes and softens skin. With an effective micellar cleansing base, makeup is easily removed without rubbing, and face and eyes are left thoroughly clean.

How to use: Use morning and evening on face and eyes, with a cotton pad. No need to rinse.

What I think: While I'm now a Caudalie Foaming Cleanser devotee (read here), I wasn't quite as impressed with this make-up removing cleansing water.

On the plus side, it's extremely light and feels very refreshing on your face. I did look forward to swiping it on. It dries quickly on skin, doesn't feel sticky, filmy, or tacky and also doesn't dry out your skin.

On the down side, it didn't work very well as a make-up remover. I don't wear thick make-up daily (only BB cream, a little blush and mascara), but it took a lot of this cleansing water to remove it. Even after a few cotton pads, my skin still didn't feel 100% clean and a quick swipe of another cleanser revealed it wasn't.

However, like I said, it does feel good on your skin so using it after a cleanser or throughout the day to refresh your face would be a good option.

Buy it online: Sephora $28 for a 6.7 oz bottle

  1. I like using it after a cleanser, almost as a toner - it seems to get off any makeup I missed while cleaning my face. It also seems to do well taking off mascara without irritating my eyes (which lots of eye makeup removers do).

For the price, though...I wasn't sold on the idea of using it solely as a makeup remover. I'd burn through it too fast!

    1. Oh, good call! I definitely like the idea of using it as a toner. It doesn't hold up well as a make-up remover, but I think it would feel nice and refreshing after your skin is clean. -- SC
