What it is: Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash

What they say: When it comes to faces with dry and oily places, it takes a clever cleanser to balance the two. This gentle, frothy face wash carefully does both jobs without canceling each other out.

How to use: Squeeze small amount into palm, add tepid water to lather. Swirl over skin, steering clear of eyes. Rinse thoroughly. Great for A.M. and P.M. cleansing.

What I think: I bought a full-size version of this product -- no questions asked -- after Sarah with Birchbox recommended it to me on their Facebook page when I posed a question.

Needless to say, I was a little worried that I was wasting my money, but I'm really happy with this product.

I had previously been using a foaming face wash, but it was becoming a little too harsh for my skin. As I've gotten older, my skin has transitioned from super oily to combination.

Also, I squirreled way a TON of Birchbox points and got myself a Clarisonic Mia for only $30 in March. So I needed something I could use with that as well.

This face wash fits the bill!

It's gentle enough on my dry patches, but strong enough to get rid of excess oil. My skin feels smooth, clean, and nourished all over.

I've used it with my Clarisonic and also with just my hands when I'm in a quick fix and it works well both way.

With the Clarisonic, it whips up into a frothy cleanser (not foam-like) -- a little bit goes a long way --  and rinses away easily.

It has a nice, light scent -- what I would describe as "natural."

Overall, this cleanser, in combination with my Clarisonic, has really helped to balance my skin a lot. I was really getting concerned about how different my T-zone & cheeks were becoming, but this has helped a lot!

Buy it online: Birchbox $21 for 5 fl. oz.
