Samantha Chic: October 2014 Stitch Fix review

This month marks my 6th Stitch Fix box. This was the first month that I really was disappointed with my box because it felt really impersonal.

I had made a note for my stylist last month for ideas on how to incorporate color into a fall/winter wardrobe. I think that was the goal, but the stylist note was only a few sentence and didn't offer a whole lot of ideas or explanations.

Compared to other months that were spot on, the styles this month just didn't seem like me, which made me wonder.

Here's what I got in my box. The pieces ranged from $34 to $78 each for a total of $272. After the $20 styling fee and 25% discount, the whole box could be purchased for $189.

Kut From the Kloth Duffy Open Crochet Dolman Sleeve Knit Top $28 | STATUS: Sent Back

This shirt actually photographed pretty well, but in person, the size & cut was a little off.

I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be an off-the-shoulder top or not. The neck opening was a little to big (showed my straps), but not big enough that it hung off the shoulders.

I liked the color with my red hair. I pretty sure I don't own anything purple, but I might be inspired to try to incorporate it into my closet.

Overall, it just wasn't me.
41Hawthorn Dita Colorblock Sleeveless Ponte Dress $78 | STATUS: Sent Back

I did like the shape, the fit, the cut, and color-blocking of this dress. I thought about keeping it, but in the end, I sent it back.

I've seen some other versions of this dress on the Stitch Fix blog in other colors that I liked better.

For $78, I just didn't like this version enough to justify keeping it when I own a ton of dresses to begin with.

Gilli Genna 3/4 Sleeve Faux Wrap Dress $64 | STATUS: Sent Back

This was probably the item I liked the best, and would have kept if it wasn't for one thing ... it was so short in the back!

Seriously, this dress (a royal purple color) was so short in the back. I would have never felt comfortable wearing it outside of the house, even with tights.

The style however reminded me of a DVF wrap dress or something Kate Middleton (my idol) would wear. So, hopefully in the future I can find a slightly longer style.
Tart Daryn Geo Print Scoop Back Top $68 | STATUS: Sent Back

This navy and white pattern shirt probably would have been a good layering piece, but it wasn't my style at all.

In fact, it reminded me a lot of some thing that teachers at my elementary school would wear, so I wasn't keeping it.

Especially for the price, there was no way I'd keep it.
Bay to Baubles Brandy Rhinestone Spike Necklace $34 | STATUS: Sent Back

I liked this necklace, but I didn't love it, so I sent it back.

I did appreciate that it was a little out of my style comfort zone with a rocker-chic edge to it. But at the same time, it wasn't so crazy out-of-the-box.
So, that was my 6th box! Tell me what you think about Stitch Fix in the comments below. If you're interested in Stitch Fix, you can sign up here!
