Samantha Chic: Is it the holidays yet? Why I sometimes wish we could skip from Halloween to Christmas...

Is it the holidays yet? Why I sometimes wish we could skip from Halloween to Christmas...

Last year with the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center in NYC
Last Wednesday, I was sitting through a work conference when I got a notification on my phone from the iHeartRadio app -- 50 Days Until Christmas! Start your Holiday Playlists now!

My heart skipped a beat... only 50 days!? That's it!? That's all we have between now and Christmas!?

This wasn't concern because I don't have enough time to put up the tree, bake holiday cookies, shop for gifts, etc. No, this was concern that I don't have enough time to enjoy Christmas.

You see, Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. Well, if we're being honest, a lot of them are my favorites, especially the 4th of July and my Birthday, which is a national celebration as far as I'm concerned.

But there's something magical about Christmas -- the twinkling lights, the carols, the cheer & merriment, the baked goods, and more!

It's honestly my favorite time of year (though I don't enjoy cold weather), and, quite frankly, I feel like I don't get enough time to enjoy it.

If I had my way, I'd start celebrating Nov. 1, right after Halloween. But there's another holiday standing between me and Christmas, and that's Thanksgiving.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love Thanksgiving, I love the food, I love seeing my family. I'm thankful for that time with loved ones.

But sometimes I feel like Thanksgiving is a lunch break between Halloween and Christmas.

People don't take to fondly to this notion though. Every year, I swear I hear more and more people complaining that "Christmas is coming earlier and earlier every year!"

Secretly I'm jumping for joy inside.

I saw the first Christmas display the last week of September this year and fist pumped.

I decided where the Christmas tree was going to be displayed in our new apartment this year back in October.

The 1st Instagram picture I ever posted -- the

I bought a Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks as soon as November rolled around.

Out of respect for Thanksgiving, I'll refrain from external Christmas revelry for now, but I may start secretly listening to Christmas music when no one's around.

And I may put the tree the day after Thanksgiving.

But you know what, that's OK with me. Sometimes we need a little extra Christmas cheer!

What do you think about the holidays? Are you with me or do you think Christmas goes overboard? Tell me in the comments below!
