Samantha Chic: Unboxing // May 2015 Stitch Fix review

Unboxing // May 2015 Stitch Fix review

Another month, another Stitch Fix review...

This month marks my 13th Stitch Fix box (you can sign up here if you're interested). Last month, I wrote about how I wasn't sure if Stitch Fix was for me and this month, I'm definitely questioning this as well.

In fact, this month was so bad (in terms of my style & profile) that I almost canceled. I ended up writing a lengthy email to customer service explaining my issues, which they, luckily, acknowledged as legitimate and took several steps to alleviate the issues.

I've read so many Stitch Fix review to try to get better boxes -- start a Pinterest board, leave detailed comments on the items, tell them what you do & don't like. I've been doing all of that (which customer service pointed out to my new stylist) and more, yet still getting items that I just can't stand.

Most of the boxes I've been getting are $200+ (even when choosing "the cheaper, the better" option). I'd much rather take that $200 to Forever 21, Target, Zara, H&M, etc. and get items I actually like at a much better price.

My biggest issue is that majority of the pieces I've been getting go so far against what I said in my style profile and/or I specifically said I do not want to receive. For instance, I've gotten dolman sleeve shirts at least 3 times now and I've said each and every time I HATE that style & do not want to receive another dolman top.

Another issue I had with this box (and another box) is that the stylist wrote a whole two sentences in the comment card. Isn't part of Stitch Fix is that they give you style ideas, tips & tricks? How is saying "I pulled some pieces that I hope you like" enough of a comment?

What is the point of having a style profile, filling in the comments for each item, doing a Pinterest board, etc. if no one is going to listen to you? How can you say you're a "personal stylist" if you don't listen to your client? Hopefully this issues will be resolved.

Here's what I got in my May box though. The pieces ranged from $32 to $78 each for a total of $312. After the $20 styling fee and 25% discount, the whole box could be purchased for $219.

Skies are Blue Saintella Embroidery Detail Top $48 | STATUS: Sent Back

This top was OK -- it wasn't great, but out of all the pieces in this month's box, this was the one I disliked the least.

I do prefer open 3/4 length sleeves (i.e. no button), which was nice. The shirt was a nice cream color, but it was see-through (you can kind of see I'm wearing a dark colored bra under here).

Overall, this isn't my style (a little too boho / country western for me) and I definitely wouldn't purchase a see-through blouse for this price.
Kut From the Kloth Kate Boyfriend Jeans $78 | STATUS: Sent Back

I've asked for dark-wash bootcut jeans twice now... I can only assume they don't have any in that style because I have yet to receive a pair. I don't know for sure though because the stylists have yet to acknowledge my requests in the comment cards.

(On a side note, I also requested a specific skirt I saw on their Pinterest board... I didn't hear anything about that either, so I don't know.)

These jeans are OK, but I'm not huge on the boyfriend style jeans. I have one pair & that's enough.
Market & Spruce Corinna Striped Heathered Dolman Top $48 | STATUS: Sent Back

Again with the dolman sleeve top!? How many times do I have to say that I HATE this style before I stop receiving them?

I got one last month & in October as well, and I know I said each time that I hate this style.

Overall, I like the fabric texture, weight and style -- I love a good striped shirt. But I can't do dolman sleeves. They look like batwings, which is the last thing I want.
Loveappella Carlita Multi Chevron Print Maxi Dress $78 | STATUS: Sent Back

Ok, so I'm not opposed to maxi dresses or chevron, but I am opposed to the boho style (as marked on my style profile) and paisley.

Ryan actually loved this dresses and begged me to keep it, but there's no way I'm keeping a dress I dislike this much for that price.

I couldn't stand the print. In all honesty, it made me want to throw up a little.
Bancroft Trisha Clover Charm Layering Necklace $32 | STATUS: Sent Back

I actually really love this necklace... Want to know why? Because I received one almost EXACTLY like this in November already and kept it.

Except that one was in silver, which is my preferred jewelry color, as marked in my style profile.

So why they would send me a necklace I already own in a color I dislike is beyond me, but yet they did.
So, that was my 13th box! Tell me what you think about Stitch Fix in the comments below. If you're interested in Stitch Fix, you can sign up here!
