What it is: Amika Obliphica Nourishing Mask
What they say: The Nourishing Hair Mask deeply conditions and restores hair. The natural molecules in the formula penetrate the surface of the hair to get to the root, sealing split ends improving shine, elasticity and nourishment. Safe for color treated hair. Free of parabens and sulfates.
How to use: This lush mask works as a weekly treatment or an everyday deep conditioner. In the shower, smooth a generous amount through damp hair, concentrating on the ends. Let the mask sink in for two to five minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
What I think: I put my hair through a lot -- drastic cuts (I've donated to Locks of Love twice!), coloring, heating tools, teasing, braiding, etc. So I really rely on great products to keep it healthy & strong, which isn't always an easy task.
I received this Amika Obliphica Nourishing Mask in one of my monthly Birchbox boxes more than two years ago now and have been hooked ever since. Whenever my hair is particularly dry or tangled, I reach for this mask.
Majority of the time I keep this mask on reserve for when my hair is truly desperate; however, if I've been doing a lot to my hair I will definitely use it weekly. There was one summer I was styling my hair so often that I ended up using this mask every other day.
It's lightweight enough to not leave your hair feeling greasy or thick afterward. I've had that issue with deep conditioners before where they'll leave a patch of grease in one spot no matter how hard your rinse it out.
Additionally, I apply this mask to my whole head -- scalp, roots, bangs, etc. -- without any residue weighing down my hair or deflating volume (and I have very flat, fine hair).
The mask is powerful enough though to leave your hair feeling super silky and smooth afterwards. And it smells amazing!
Amika's mask is a little more than I typically like to spend on conditioners; however, I can definitely say I've gotten better results on my hair using this mask once a week than I have using cheaper versions every other day.
It's definitely worth the splurge when your hair needs a little revival.
