Samantha Chic: Style // Summer Neutrals & Prints

Style // Summer Neutrals & Prints

Tank: American Eagle (past season) // Shorts: Target // Necklace: From Greece
Shoes: H&M (past season) // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Purse: Kate Spade

I've written before that I'm not much of a shorts problem, but after finding this pair at Target, I've changed my mind. The ones I'm wearing here are actually the third color I own (I wore the first ones on the blog a while back, and the second pair are in a picture from Kennywood last week).

What I love most about them is that they're kind of dressy and nicer than regular denim shorts, but still just as comfy. Especially in the summertime at amusement parks or when you're eating a lot of s'mores, it can be nice to have shorts that a little more roomy.

If I'm wearing a bold color or a pattern though, I tend to keep things more neutral and really center my outfit around the print. In this case, the shorts draw a lot of attention on their own. I was convinced they were mostly black for a while, only to discover they're actually navy.

A simple cream lace tank draws on the cream in shorts. While some may say you should never mix black and brown, I disagree - they're both neutrals so mix away. The brown gladiator sandals are on-trend and balances out the cream. While the black crossbody bag pairs well with shorts.

Lastly, I added a bolder necklace in a similar color pallete. This is something a little different for me, but I thought it paird well. If you are going to mix prints, be sure to keep the color palletes similar. In this case, the necklace has the black, brown and navy in it. While the blue is a different shade, it still goes without being too matchy-matchy.

What do you think? How do you balance out bold shorts? Tell me in the comments below!
