Style // New Year's Eve in Downtown LA

Jacket: Purchased in Italy // Tank: Zara (past season) // Jeans: Just Black via Stitch Fix
Purse: Kate Spade // Shoes: H&M (past season) // Eyeliner: Cynthia Rowley

This year, obviously, was my first New Year's Eve in Los Angeles. In fact, it's actually only the second time I've celebrated NYE not in Pennsylvania (one time I went to visit my cousin in Mississippi), so needless to say, I was excited.

Ryan and I went to downtown LA's Grand Park where they had a ton of people, food trucks, an outdoor dance party, and a countdown to midnight. It was packed, but it was a ton of fun. I wish we had gotten there a little bit earlier because security was pretty tight.

Since I wasn't sure what to expect, I tried to put together a casual and comfy, yet somewhat dressed up outfit. I went my with trusty skinny jeans (which I wore on the blog last week if you'll remember) and this halter tank from Zara. The neckline I think dresses it up a bit.

This cream leather jacket is my all-time favorite piece, mostly because I bought it in Italy when I visited the country for Spring Break in 2009. I've worn it on the blog before (see here).

Even though it was on sale, at the time it cost a lot for me and even still, it's the most expensive item in my closet. But every time I pull it out and wear it (which is often), I'm transported right back to Italy for a few moments - and that is priceless.

My least favorite part of this outfit is the shoes, mostly because I wasn't sure what to wear. I downgraded my shoe collection by a lot when we moved.

I initially wanted to wear heeled booties, but wasn't sure how much standing there would be so I went with flats instead. The silver rhinestones don't match the gold on the tank, but did match my eyeliner.

Last, but not least, a Kate Spade leopard mini crossbody bag completed the look. I love this one because it's small enough to fit just the essentials, which is perfect when security says you can't have a purse larger than 8x8 inches.

Overall, we had a ball in downtown LA for NYE! If you guys have any recommendations on things to do/eat/see/etc. in the LA area, let me know because I'd love to check them out!
