So, this past weekend, Ryan and I were looking for something new, fun and cheap to do when we saw there was going to be a Lego exhibit at the South Coast Botanic Garden. It might not be everyone's idea of fun, but we like nature, and Legos are kind of cool, so we decided to go.

First and foremost, I was probably overdressed... which is fine! As Oscar Wilde once said: "You can never be overdressed or overeducated."

Even though I've had this dress from White House Black Market for a few years now, it's still one of my go-to dresses and they actually have a lot of similar colors and styles available now (see below).

The neutral colors and cut also lends itself well for work, which is why I originally purchased it. But I really think every woman needs a go-to dress that they know fits well, looks great, and can be worn to multiple occasions.

I've worn this dress many times outside of work though, because again, it's an easy outfit to just throw together and look chic without trying.

A statement necklace, messy side braid, and light pink tinted balm upped the "overdressed" factor, but sometimes when you're wearing something as simple as a dress, it just needs a little finishing.

The Botanic Garden was a lot of walking (so glad I wore flats), but overall, it wasn't too bad. I was amazed by how many different types of plants they had there, and from so many different countries -- Madagascar, Bolivia, China, Mexico, and more.

Because I most certainly did not.

The Lego sculptures were pretty cool as well. They have 27 of them scattered around the garden, such as a bee, a garden keeper, a rose, a bison, and more. The butterfly seen above was actually made out of 37,481 Legos! Several of them weighed between 200 and 400 lbs as well!

If you're interested in checking out the garden and the Lego exhibit, it will be open until May 8. Entrance is only $9 (or $6 if you have a student ID). It's a nice way to spend a weekend afternoon and then there are food trucks waiting for you afterwards to enjoy!

Have you checked out the South Coast Botanic Garden before? What did you think? Tell me in the comments below!
