What it is: L'ORÉAL Voluminous Butterfly Mascara
What they say: Stretch and extend your lashes like wings! The revolutionary Butterfly Brush with asymmetrical lash line shape extends and lifts outer corner lashes to give you a winged-out look that instantly volumizes lashes at the roots.
How to use: Place brush at base of lashes And gently sweep up to tip-no need to pump the wand.
I really wanted to like this L'ORÉAL Voluminous Butterfly Mascara, but unfortunately I just didn’t. I thought the unique wand was a great idea, but in everyday use, it proved a little inefficient.
As you can see above, the wand is asymmetrical with longer brush tips at one end and shorter on the other. This is to help lift and wing out your outer lashes, which in turn helps your eyes to look wider and more awake.
Because of the asymmetry, you have to hold the wand a certain way to get the desired effect. This worked out well on my right eye, because I’m right handed.
The left eye though? Forget about it! It was a disaster and I kept ending up with mascara all over my face. I had a little bit better luck contorting my right arm to wing out the left side, but it still was never as good as the right eye.
All contorting and issues aside, I really didn’t notice a difference in my lashes either. The outer corners never really appeared lifted or winged out.
Additionally, the formula appeared to dry and flake throughout the day, which is never a good thing, but as someone who wears contact lenses that is a really BAD thing! I was constantly fishing flakes out of my eye and cleaning them off my contacts.
Overall, I really did not like this mascara and kind of dreaded using it in the morning. This is one of the few times I actually threw out a mascara before I used it up.
