Red Carpet // The Met Gala 2016 Style & Beauty

So, Monday night marked the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit - otherwise known as the Met Gala. While there is no “theme” per say, attendees are often encouraged to interpret the featured exhibit, which this year was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”

Basically, it’s a chance for all the biggest starts to show off their best black-tie style …and there was no shortage of style this year! I had a really hard time narrowing down my favorite outfits, but I think I’ve got it down to four…

I loved Emma Stone’s Prada dress because it made her seem like a badass gladiator woman! Also, I’m really loving the dark hair on her.

Kate Hudson also wore white (Atelier Versace to be exact), but her dresses offered a lot of graphical details, which I felt played into the the technology theme without being too literal.

Kendall Jenner’s Atelier Versace dress also had a lot of interest to it, while Amandla Stenberg rocked this burgundy Calvin Klein pantsuit!

One thing that stood out to me was the amount 90s influences I saw on the red carpet. At first I thought the theme was punk again because so many people really channeled the decade — Jennifer Connelly in Louis Vuitton, Dakota Fanning in Nina Ricci, Selena Gomez in Louis Vuitton, and Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton to name a few.

This is perhaps the easiest trend from the night to incorporate to your everyday life. Here’s a few options…

Lastly, my favorite hair style of the night was actually Katie Holmes with her super sleek, long and dramatic style! While really simple, I felt like it the whole outfit perfectly. The look is easy to copy as well with a great flat iron!
